The "Baptisten in Hamburg" call themselves by their official name
"Evangelical – Free Church Congregations and Institutions (Baptists)
in the Hamburger Verband K.d.ö.R."
This somewhat unwieldy name means that the "Baptisten in Hamburg"
The reason for this was the synergy effect created by the establishment of a supra-congregational organization.
Because, 19 years after the end of the 2nd World War, there was still a lot to build and renovate in Hamburg's communities.Some communities built new community centers, removed the temporary post-war buildings and replaced them with new community centers, which were modern for the time.
Small branch congregations established themselves as independent congregations and established new congregational quarters in their districts. With the funds contributed by the association, the municipalities had the opportunity to support each other in their construction measures.

Like the other free churches, they strive for the greatest possible independence from the state. Church taxes are foreign to them. The municipalities finance their budgets exclusively through the voluntary contributions of their members.
The basis for church membership is a conscious and responsible decision of faith. They are expected to contribute their gifts and opportunities to the congregation and, together with other Christians, to make the love of God tangible for all people.
