"I sing to you with heart and mouth"
Rediscovering the songs of Paul Gerhardt
Poems that are almost 400 years old, simple melodies that do without band sound and drums – can you still sing such songs today? You can, and you should! It certainly takes some effort to find your way into the language and music of the 17th century. But if you get involved in a leap in time to the Baroque era, you will find in the songs of the great Protestant hymn writerPaul Gerhardt( 1676) vivid linguistic images and a strong faith, plus expressive and easy-to-learn melodies – songs that we can sing and pray when we lack our own words.Daniel Zimmermann, church musician at St. Michael's Church in Kaltenkirchen, brings us a little closer to Paul Gerhardt's biography, world of thought and musical expression on this evening. We will sing together (of course songs by Paul Gerhardt), eat together and get into conversation. Welcome!
"More than Music" is a meeting place with music, topic and discussion forum for people who are still in the middle of their professional lives, who have just retired or who are already actively shaping their retirement life. We are looking forward to new faces in our open group. The meeting point is the "Rondell" in the basement of the Christuskirche.
